Answer to Question 1

1. Narcissism.

Rationale:
Clinical manifestations seen in individuals with personality disorders include narcissism, manipulation, and impulsiveness. The client who states that she was only taking what was rightfully hers is demonstrating narcissism, which is the belief that one is the center of the universe and therefore is entitled to certain things. Manipulation is controlling behavior to exploit others for personal gain. The client is not demonstrating manipulation. The client may or may not be denying her behavior. The client is not projecting her behavior.

Answer to Question 2

1. Begin the process of grieving the loss

Rationale:
When it is known that the fetus is not as expected, the mother and family will grieve the loss of the perfect baby that they imagined in order to come to accept what is the reality. The work of grief for the loss of the normal infant encompasses the same process as grieving for a death and cannot be accomplished in a few days. The family, hopefully, will accept the upcoming child upon completion of the grieving process. The mother could opt for a therapeutic abortion, but the priority goal is beginning the work of grief.
