Rationale:
The risk for a postoperative infection after coronary bypass graft surgery is higher in elderly clients. The nurse should include this information in the preoperative instructions to the client. The client may or may not be on bed rest for a week or more after the surgery. The client, however, will most likely not be ambulating the evening of the surgery. Cardiac pain postoperatively is not to be expected and could indicate a myocardial infarction.
