The infant is not aware of death. The preschooler views death as a temporary separation. The school-age child appreciates that death is final and inevitable. Adolescents will tend to deny that death could happen to them.

A cataract is referred to as lens opacity. Glaucoma is an increased pressure within the eye. Macular degeneration is a disease process of the eye. Prebycusis is hearing loss associated with older age.
