Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Laxatives should never be given without assessing for bowel sounds because constipation could be caused by a small bowel obstruction.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Allopurinol usually is used when objective findings show uric acid nephropathy with impaired renal function (creatinine clearance less than 80 mL/min).
