A patient treated with the abacavir, zidovudine, and lamivudine combination develops a fever and rash. Select the nurse's best course of action.
 
  1. Tell the patient that this is a normal response to these medications and to continue the agents as prescribed.
  2. Have the patient discontinue the medications and arrange for an immediate evaluation by the provider.
  3. Have the patient continue the abacavir but discontinue the other two agents for 3 weeks.
