Answer to Question 1

D
Methylxanthines, including aminophylline, stimulate the sympathetic nervous system. Signs and symptoms of toxicity include central nervous system irritability, restlessness, temperature eleva-tion, tremors, tachycardia, nausea and vomiting, palpitations, and dizziness.

Answer to Question 2

C
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibacterial drug. These drugs are toxic to the kidneys (neph-rotoxic). A decrease of urine output by 1000 mL in a 24-hour time period is cause for concern about kidney function. The drug may need to be stopped or the dosage decreased.
