The nurse should counsel the patient to use acetaminophen for mild pain, because it does not erode the stomach, as do nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibu-profen, and naproxen sodium when taken by a patient who also is taking glucocorticoids.
