Activation is defined as an effect on receptor function equivalent to that produced by the natural neurotransmitter at a particular synapse, therefore drugs that increase receptor activation would have the same response.
Drugs that increase receptor activation do not antagonize any natural neurotransmitter in the synapse; this would be an inhibitory action.
Drugs that increase receptor activation do not promote the use of excess transmitter to down-regulate activation.
Drugs that increase receptor activation do not lack any effect at the synaptic cleft.
