 Shizhan' is in a compound meterrepeating groups of very fast threes: 123 123 123 . . . The other examples of traditional Native-American music from North America heard so far in this chapter are not in any definite meter.

 From the public part of the Enemyway ceremony known collectively as Nd' songsthese songs are the hit tunes of traditional Navajo life.
