Answer to Question 1

Bi-metallic devices consist of two different types of metals bonded together. The expansion and contraction rates are different for each type of metal. The resulting warping or distortion of this action is connected via mechanical linkages to the indicating pointer.

Answer to Question 2

The pressure reducing valve is normally set for 12 to 15 psi and the system relief valve is set for 30 psi.
