ANSWER: Manuscript writing, which closely resembles print (kindergarten to third grade);
cursive writing or connected script writing (about third grade and up); word processing
or typing (about fourth grade and up).

ANSWER: Invented spelling is the beginning writer's attempts to write words without paying
attention to spelling rules. Children are encouraged to write words any way they wish,
from scribbling to trying to using some lettersound relationships.
