Answer to Question 1

When a manager's operation constantly delivers high-quality guest service, that fact should be communicated to the operation's target market. Managers can use advertising, sales promotions, publicity, and public relations (PR) to communicate their service commitment to off-premise customers. Advertising is any form of marketing message that managers must pay for. Sales promotions provide special incentives for customers to patronize an establishment. Publicity is information about an establishment that is distributed for free, but is not produced by the business. Public relations (PR) is the part of an establishment's communication activities that addresses the operation's image in its community.
