Answer to Question 1

2
Rationale: Creating negative energy expenditure by decreasing the number of kcalories consumed daily and increasing physical activity has been shown to be the most effective way to achieve long-term success with weight loss. Radial decreases in food intake produces a negative energy expenditure, but at the cost of adequate nutrition. Reducing food portions by one-half may be an extreme cut unless previous portions are massive. The best diet is one balanced to provide all the nutritional requirements of the body.

Answer to Question 2

B
An important role of proteins in the body includes acid-base balance. Proteins do not have a ma-jor role in temperature regulation, conduction of nerve impulses, or elimination of waste products.
