Answer to Question 1

Students will likely differ in their response to this question. Advantages include the opportunity to teach employees how to understand basics of financial information (this may make them appreciate financial restraints under which restaurant managers work). As well, they may feel like they are part of the restaurant team because their managers trust them and share this information. Disadvantages include concerns about otherwise confidential information being shared with persons in competitive operations and a potential lack of interest in some employees who are not interested in financial information.
