Answer to Question 1

The reason for the early sophistication of Persian cuisine has a lot to do with the fact that
Persia was an established culture, even an Empire, very early in its history. As an Empire,
it covered an immense area which included parts of Africa, including Egypt, parts of the
Middle East including Mesopotamia, parts of Turkey, parts of India, the Caucasus, and
into central Asia. This gave the Persians many foods, cooking styles of many various
cultures, and new ideas to bring home. When the Greeks conquered Persia another
exchange of culture occurred bring to Persia the very advanced and sophisticated Greek
cuisine.
