Answer to Question 1

Humor is a powerful tool for enhancing self-confidence and building empathy. Humor can
promote positive attitudes within the team, making it easier to hear feedback and new
information. Humor also distracts from worry; lightens stress, anxiety, depression, and pain;
increases creativity; and offers perspective and balance. It can help express the truth when the
truth is feared and repressed. The use of humor decreases discipline problems and pressure on
team members to be perfect. It also improves listening and employee retention and creates a
comfort level in the kitchen. The potential of each person can best be enhanced in an atmosphere
of open communication. Studies have shown that employees who have fun at work are less likely
to be late or absent.
