Answer to Question 1

Nutrient-content claims tell the consumer how much of a nutrient is contained in the food. A health claim is an expressed or implied statement connecting a nutrient to disease or health, such as calling an item heart healthy. Restaurants and foodservice operations that make either claim are required to specify the basis used to establish the claim.

Answer to Question 2

This law applies to chain restaurants or other foodservice establishments with 20 or more units having the same name or variations of that name, or preparing the same menu items. Under this law, menus are required to have calorie counts on standard menu items, a declaration of usual daily calorie needs, and a statement regarding the availability of additional information. In addition, operations must actually keep this information on-site.

Vending-machine operators with 20 or more machines are required to label food sold to their customers. Non-covered businesses and vending operators may volunteer to be under the federal law by registering with the government.

Drug abusers experience the following scenario: The pleasure given by their drug (or drugs) of choice is so strong that it is difficult to eradicate even after years of staying away from the substances involved.
