Question 2

Jennie, age 34, had squamous cell carcinoma diagnosed 2 years ago. It began as a scar on the side of her face resulting from a car accident, when she was a child. She became concerned and visited her doctor when it began to turn reddish-purple. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis and that it was malignant. She underwent surgical removal of the lesion and a portion of the area around her mouth. Cosmetic repair will be done when the cancer growth has ceased.
 
  People who feel they are making little progress in curing the cancer often turn to unproven therapies. Describe the nutritional components of the therapies. Describe the outcome of most of these cases.
