Answer to Question 1

Weight training may not lead to excessive muscle buildup but can lead to an increase in the lean muscle mass that will enable the body to expend more calories during rest, which could help with weight management. Muscles that are not used will start to break down (atrophy).
Weight training can also strengthen the abdominal muscles so that they support the back better. This would reduce the risk of back injury. Weight training also keeps the bones strong throughout life by putting stress on them, which causes them to accrue more calcium and phosphate salts. Weight training strengthens the muscles needed for particular sports, which will increase a person's enjoyment and participation in that sport.
