A person requires eight fewer kilocalories a day for every
pound of body weight lost. Thus, when a person loses
10 pounds, his or her BMR decreases by 80 calories per day.
This means that to maintain a 10-pound weight loss, that
person must further reduce daily energy intake or increase
expenditure by 80 calories.
