In general, maintaining a healthy weight, staying physically active, and consuming a healthy diet can reduce your risk of developing cancer by 30 to 40 percent. More specifically, one should maintain a BMI between 21 and 23, incorporate at least 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity daily, cut back on sweets and calorie-dense foods, eat a diet rich in fiber, phytochemicals, and antioxidant vitamins and minerals (whole grains and a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables), consume omega-3 fatty acids, limit intake of red meat, avoid processed meats, limit salt consumption, and limit alcohol consumption.
