The purpose of a warm-up is to elevate muscle temperature and increase blood ow to those muscles that will be
engaged in the workout. A primary purpose of a cool-down is to allow blood to be returned from the muscles back
to the heart.

he 10 rule states that the training intensity or duration of exercise should not be increased by more than 10 per
week. This is a common sense guideline for improving physical tness and avoiding overuse injuries
