Answer to Question 1

Answer to Question 2

Some people may be afraid to take medicine to help regulate their mood. A person with anorexia nervosa may feel that the medicine may reduce their self control such that they will eat and gain weight. A person with bulimia nervosa may be too ashamed to seek medical help on their own. The advantages of talk therapy are that medicine does not have to be used and the discussions can occur in complete confidence and without judgment by a medical professional. This anonymity may help some people with eating disorders reach out when they are ready to get well.
