Answer to Question 1

c

Answer to Question 2

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) are the two surveys. The NHANES is conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics and involves a nationally representative sample. Annually, NHANES staff members take anthropometric measures and biochemical measures, complete a dietary recall for intake data, collect physical activity information, and report demographic data.
For the BRFSS, self-report data are collected from individual states through a random-digit dial telephone interview with adults aged 18 and older. Because the data collected are representative at the state level, trends in overweight and obesity among adults can be obtained for each of the states.
