Answer to Question 1

Depending on the amount of fat and protein in the body, a person can live for several weeks without consuming food. However, water is a different story. A person can only live for 3 to 4 days without water because the body does not store it nor does it produce much of it. In addition, water is continually lost via perspiration, urine, and feces. Water is necessary to keep your metabolism working properly, and without it, blood pressure can fall to dangerously low levels, blood clots may form, and the kidneys cannot function adequately.

Answer to Question 2

When a person dies, cells are no longer able to maintain aerobic energy metabolism. As a result, ATP is not produced. The lack of ATP causes muscles to remain contracteda condition called rigor mortis.
