Answer to Question 1

Iron absorption from foods can be enhanced by eating foods high in vitamin C and iron-rich foods during the same meal. Another way to enhance absorption is to eat meat, fish, or poultry with nonheme iron-containing foods (grains and vegetables). Note as well that cooking in an iron pan can increase the iron content of foods, which may result in more iron being absorbed.
