Amalia is a student in Mrs. Black's fourth-grade classroom in an East Kentucky elementary school. Mrs. Black now lives in Appalachia after spending most of her life in Manhattan. Amalia responds to her teacher's questions by saying "I heared you. I don't care to answer. I am plum afeared. I'll answer directly."
