How is smartphone use related to sleep quality?
◦ Smartphone users over the age of 65 show the greatest disruptions to their sleep due to overuse of the device.
◦ Using a smartphone just before falling asleep at night contributes to enhanced REM sleep and longer sleep periods overall.
◦ Over a week's time, smartphone users classified as "heavy users" showed an increase of one extra hour of sleep each night from Monday through the following Sunday.
◦ Merely owning a smartphone is associated with less sleep overall and an increase in sleep problems among adolescents.
