Chuck is a 63-year-old man who was scheduled to undergo a hiatal hernia repair. He has a history of hyperlipidemia, the aforementioned hiatal hernia, HTN, and GERD. As part of his pre-op clearance, he had an EKG that showed a right bundle branch block. He is here for further work up of this finding. Carlin's doctor found a carotid bruit on auscultation, and ordered additional tests to rule out carotid stenosis. Doppler ultrasound was highly suspicious for left-sided carotid stenosis. It was confirmed on angio CT. The artery was 85 occluded. The patient is here for an endarterectomy. Patient has a history of thyroid cancer, which was successfully treated nine years ago. She also has hypertension and arthritis of the right elbow.
