Answer to Question 1
The arguments in favor of global standardization include global consumers, international travel, and consumer preference for higher quality and lower price. Consumer's interests and product/service related needs are becoming more and more homogeneous worldwide. This allows for a common offering across markets. International travel exposes more consumers to advertisements and products. This allows for more global brand awareness. Global consumers are increasingly willing to sacrifice product-related features, function , and design in order to obtain higher quality at a lower price. This helps companies to develop common product platforms which results in economies of scale in research, development, production, distribution, and promotion.
