Children who are overweight are more likely to develop cardiovascular disease, diabetes, bone and joint disease, sleep apnea, and face social discrimination which can lead to poor self-esteem and depression. Nurses can design and implement nutrition, healthy eating, and physical activities policies and standards in schools in order to address this health crisis.
