Answer: Vegetarian diets may reduce the risk for obesity as well as several chronic degenerative diseases, such as coronary artery disease, some forms of cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Vegan diets are lower in saturated fat and cholesterol and higher in carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, folate, potassium, and antioxidants than the typical American diet.

Answer: He can find a list of ingredients, calories and nutrients per serving, serving size, percentage of calories from fat, and the percentage of the daily value one serving supplies. Answers to why will vary, but could include tracking calories, understanding a serving size vs. a package size, and tracking nutrient consumption.
