Proper aeration and drainage; adequate water- and nutrient-holding capacity;
favorable pH; essential nutrients; and be free of insects, weeds, and disease organisms.

Answer to Question 2

Indirect seeding is when seeds are planted indoors first and the seedlings are then
transplanted to a larger container or to a permanent location outdoors later.
