Atrial dysrhythmias are usually not life-threatening and include premature atrial contractions (PACs), atrial tachycardia, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT), atrial flutter, and atrial fibrillation. Common causes for these conditions include myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, electrolyte imbalances, emotional stress, and medications; they are usually treated with digitalis preparations and reduction of stimulants such as caffeine.
