Answer to Question 1

There are several types of workplace discrimination. Overt discrimination can lead to violence toward LGBT individuals. Hidden discrimination involves the hiring, promotion, and compensation process of a job.
This type of discrimination brings the message that an individual is not wanted in an organization. Overt and hidden discrimination in a work environment discourages sexual minorities from making their sexual orientation known. Other forms of discrimination are blackmail, ostracism, sexual harassment, exclusion or avoidance, termination and lavender ceiling.
Counselors can prove to be affective in assisting sexual minorities dealing with discrimination in the workplace.
Counselors can provide a list of company-based sexual minority employee groups that can provide information about specific organizations.
