After a vigorous workout you return to your car and, over the course of a few minutes, consume approximately 1 L of water. On any other day, drinking that much water would lead you to urinate within a short period of time. However, after two hours you still don't have the urge to urinate. Why is this?
◦ The gallbladder produced a hormone that signaled to the kidneys to absorb the water.
◦ As you drank the water, your liver signaled to your bladder to hold on to the liquid in case the workout resumed.
◦ As the body was rehydrated, the kidneys signaled that water was needed in the body and it was not passed on to the bladder.
◦ The kidneys sent the water onto the bladder as urine but secreted a hormone that signaled to the brain not to urinate, in the event that the water was needed to be reabsorbed later.
