Answer to Question 1

Foods high in fiber include whole fruits, nuts, seeds, and grains as well as legumes, oatmeal, and many vegetables.

Answer to Question 2

Nutrient density refers to the quantity of nutrients packed into the calories consumed. Highly processed foods may contain empty calories, a term that indicates the calories consumed have very little nutritional value. If we load up on empty calories, we have little room left for nutritional calories, and can potentially become nutritionally deficient over time even though we are consuming adequate calories.
