The structural and physiological limits to exibility are (1) bone, (2) muscle, (3) structures within the joint capsule,
(4) the tendons which connect muscle to bones and connective tissue surrounding joints, and (5) skin. Stretching the
ligaments in the joint capsule may lead to a loose joint that would be highly susceptible to injury. However, muscle
and tendon are soft tissues that can lengthen over time with stretching exercises.
